A new kind of assembly program
Your students will think they’re watching a hysterical magic show.
You’ll know they’re watching a dynamic demonstration of the importance of books.
That’s because Books Are Full Of Magic Words isn’t a magic show posing as educational. It’s an engaging 45-minute program in which books are the stars. And the magic is more than “just tricks.” It illustrates:
- How Dr. Seuss wrote Green Eggs and Ham with only 50 different words.
- The importance of caring for library books.
- The difference between fiction and non-fiction.
- The value of turning off the TV and turning onto a book.
- The plots of books by Gordon Korman, Roald Dahl, J.K. Rowling and more!
While your students absorb those lessons, they’ll magically fill a bucket with half dollars and use their imaginations to fill a book with pictures. They’ll see a stuffed tortoise grow to a hundred times its original size and watch one of their classmates float in thin air, three feet off the ground!
In other words - students have far too much fun to realize they’re learning.
A librarian raves:
Scott,
What a terrific performance! I was hoping for a fun program, but you exceeded my expectations.
Your sense of humor was completely in sync with these six- to eleven-year-olds. Your magic was amazing and funny, and totally relevant to an audience of kids. The pace was perfect, the amount of repetition was just right, and the props and stage backdrop were completely professional and inspired a sense of awe. The interactive components were fabulous and the kids who were chosen to be part of the act clearly had a wonderful time and will certainly have stories to tell their families and friends.
Best of all, of course, from the perspective of a children’s librarian, the strong thread of books, reading, and libraries throughout the program made me feel that I wasn’t just providing amusement, but that you were helping to reinforce our mission.
The program was tons of fun. You were easy to work with -- very accommodating and low maintenance. I’ll be very happy to recommend you to other libraries; I have every confidence that they will find the experience to be a positive one and well worth their time and money.

A bonus for your young readers
To increase retention and keep your students excited long after the program ends, each audience member receives two keepsakes:
A program bookmark listing all the books from the show, plus related reading; and...
A fortune-telling fish, whose movement in the student’s hand tells him or her what kind of book to read next.
